About Calais Dermatology Associates

John Brantley, MD and Connor Patterson, MD continue to adopt and refine the latest technologies to ensure our patients the most effective skin and hair treatments possible.

Lumenis M22 IPL

IPL treatment improves the appearance of photo-aged skin, removes age spots, most benign brown pigments (melasma) through a process called photorejuvenation for face and body. The process is ideal for patients with active lifestyles because the procedure requires no downtown and has a low risk of side effects.

Offer patients photorejuvenation, treatment for rosacea, telangiectasias, vascular lesions, hemangiomas, port wine stains, solar lentigines, epidermal pigmented lesions, dermal pigmented lesions, Poikiloderma of Civatte.

Blu-U Photodynamic Therapy

Blu-U is used for treatment of actinic eratosis or precancerous cells. Precancerous cells, often called “sun spots” are rough-textured, dry, scaly patches on the skin caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet light (UV) such as sunlight. They occur most often on the face, scalp, ears, neck, hands and arms and can range from skin toned to reddish brown. Actinic eratosis are precancerous lesions that have the potential to progress to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), the second most common skin cancer.

So how does it work? Levulan Kerastick Topical Solution is applied to the precancerous cells. The solution is then absorbed by the precancerous cells where it is converted to a chemical that makes the cells extremely sensitive to light. When the precancerous cells are exposed to the BLU-U Blue Light Illuminator, a reaction occurs which destroys the precancerous cells.

Pharos Excimer Laser

The excimer laser offers new hope to individuals suffering from psoriasis, vitiligo, and other skin conditions. Using an intense beam of focused laser light, the Pharos laser targets the affected area, leaving the surrounding unaffected skin alone.

Depending on the severity of your psoriasis, the benefits of the laser can be:

  • Effective clearing – generally takes multiple sessions
  • Long-lasting relief – typically several months of free symptoms
  • Quick, easy, painless treatment – sessions lasts only a few minutes
  • Covered by most major insurances

LightSheer Desire Hair Laser

High-speed permanent hair reduction is finally here! The Duet uses state-of-the-art diode lasers with vacuum-assist technology to remove unwanted hair and with greater speed and comfort than other methods.

What can you expect?

Laser hair removal requires multiple treatments. This is because the laser works best when hairs are in an early growth stage (referred to as amagen), and all the hairs are not in this phase at the same time.
